Faculty Senate Meeting Minutes 11/09

The goal of the Faculty Senate is to create a forum in which staff members can:

1. Discuss ways to advance the mission of the school with an emphasis on the social goals:
a. Students will demonstrate respect for themselves and others, assume responsibility for their behavior and develop personal and social skills for life.
2. Develop a clear set of guiding principles for school culture and develop strategies for instilling these principles throughout the school community.
3. Strengthen collegial relationships in order to promote the sharing of ideas.


Group Norms:

1. Dialogue will remain positive and productive.
2. Meetings will take place in a collegial and supportive environment where individual perspectives are freely expressed and valued.
3. Meetings will have one facilitator and one secretary.
4. A summary of each meeting’s events will be emailed to the staff, posted to the blog, and shared at the end of each faculty meeting.
5. The group will meet monthly, in advance of faculty meetings.
6. A certain level of confidentiality surrounding the group’s discussion should be observed.
7. Each meeting will have an established agenda.
8. The group should be representative of the staff.
9. The group will remain mindful of the union contract and established work agreements.
