First, THANK YOU Leah for setting up this blog; great idea for us both to use technology and to have a forum for extra stuff.
I sing with the Cantata Singers in Boston (at Jordan Hall, just a block away from Symphony Hall) and we have a really great season lined up, featuring the music of Heinrich Schutz. First concert is Friday, Nov. 6 at 8:00 pm. Here is the info:
- Heinrich Schütz: Musikalische Exequien. "The power and timelessness of Schütz"
- Hugo Distler: “Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied,” Op. 12, no. 1, from Geistliche Chormusik. "Exhilarating"
- Arnold Schoenberg: Friede auf Erden. "A transcendent and visionary plea for peace"
- J.S. Bach: Cantata BWV 8, "Liebster Gott, wenn werd ich sterben?” "One of Bach’s most serenely beautiful and immensely humane cantatas"
Find more info on the website: http://cantatasingers.org/ . Feel free to ask me about tickets, if you have any questions. Debbie
